The Key Guys Will Be At “Back To the 50’s,” Minnesota Fair Grounds 2017
Once again, The Key Guys will participate in this years “Back to the 50’s” event at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds on the weekend of June 23-25th, 2017.
The Key Guys will be located in our traditional location on the corner of Legitt and Carnes near the grandstand.
The Key guys can make replacement and duplicate keys for these old timers as well as virtually and current model year vechicle. During these events we make a lot of spare keys for people who recognize the value of being prepared for the possibility of a lost or broken key.
We take great pleasure in supporting this annual event sponsored by the Minnesota Street Rod Association which is celebrating it’s 50th year as an association.
This is no ordinary car show. Last year the event was named the #1 Best Car Show in America by the Readers of
USA Today.

The Key Guys Take 1st Place – Win Huge Trophy
The Key Guys Take First Place in the 59th Firemen’s Softball Tournament
Key Guys (Lakeville) captured the Tier II title over Silverbacks (Inver Grove Heights, South St. Paul) to win its first Firemen’s title by a final score 30-20.

The championship game, played at Bloomington, MN’s Valley View fields was a first for the team sponsored by the Twin Cities Top Automotive Locksmith firms, also called The Key Guys. But it started out in a challenging manner with the fired up Silverbacks taking a solid 7-0 lead.
But not to fear, the Team had been hitting well all weekend, averaging over 24 runs a game over the entire tournament. In short order they overcame the deficit and quickly assumed an 11-7 lead. From there is was all smiles as they went on to clinch the title with a final score of 30-20.
The team plans to play in 13 USA Softball tournaments in all this year, and is looking to add to their trophy count.
The Firemen’s is getting to be a nationally known tournament with one team hailing from Florida making the trek to Minnesota to contest in the Tier I category.
Manager Josh Kratz explained that it means a lot take the title. “Definately a first (for us to) win. It’s not an easy one to chase down either but it is very prestigious.”

Snow Storm Brings Headaches and Kudos to The Key Guys
Snow Retreats, But the Stories Remain – To The Key Guys Benefit
The Mid April Snow Storm was disheartening to many Minnesotans. Despite our tradition of long suffering, the last blast of winter was certainly unwelcome.
The Key Guys managed to take it easy during the storm at first, but while call volume was down, it was far from absent. And those who did call, needed help. And in true The Key Guys fashion, we responded.
It may have taken us a bit longer to get to a couple of destinations due to the all but impassable streets, but we did venture out and helped those in need. Our efforts did not go unnoticed and we added a couple more positive Google reviews as a result. Better than that, we got some ink, including passing notice on news outlets around the country who took note of our efforts.
We even got a mention in Lincoln, NE which also suffered through the megastorm but only with rain in their part of the world.
We do not control the weather, but to the extent possible, we do not let the weather control us. If you need automotive locksmith help, call us 24/7 365 days a week.
Now if all you need is a spare car key cut, we will probably ask to schedule you for a sunnier day. But if your car key is lost in a snow drift and you need an emergency replacement, we can help.
Or like one unfortunate person, whose car keys got stuck in the ignition in an all but abandoned parking lot, we can get it out and repaired (as in this case) or replaced fast.
Bad weather complicates the situation, but in some ways invigorates us as well. Perhaps it is the need to rise to the challenge. Ours is a helping business, and we get real enjoyment out of helping people overcome the obstacles life throws their way.
The recent snowstorm added to both the challenge and enjoyment of doing our job, and doing it well.
Not that we are hoping for another storm, but when the next one comes, be it snow or rain, you can count on The Key Guys to help.

The Key Guys have been providing car locksmith service throughout the Minneapolis St Paul metro area for over two decades now. They recently put together a Google My Map to show the 117+ metro area cities they serve.
It is a pretty impressive reach serving well over 3 million area residents with 24/7 365 day emergency automotive locksmith services.
“We come to You” takes on more meaning when folks see how broad an area we try to service, says owner Brian Nystrom. We have a small fleet of vans servicing the area. Whenever possible we try to get to emergency situations as fast as possible.
“When someone gets stranded without their car keys – because they were lost or stolen – it can be a pretty helpless situation,” Brian continues. They could go to the expense of having their car towed to a dealer or service station and then pay not only the cost of new keys but the tow as well.
A better plan is to call The Key Guys. We will come to you in your location, at home, work or shopping and cut new keys for you on the spot. “That saves you money,” says Brian.
Even more money when you realize that The Key Guys main customers are the very service station and car dealerships you may otherwise have your car towed to. “We may well still get the business, but you will pay more as the dealer will add their markup to our fee.”

Transponder Chip Car Keys Cost More – What’s That All About?
Have you ever scratched your head, wondering why your car key replacement costs more than the regular locksmith job?
It’s for your car’s extra security.
Most car models in the market now use what we call transponder, or chip, keys that needs to be programmed. These car key transponders were implemented by car manufacturers to lessen the risk of car theft, which eventually became an issue with the insurance companies back in the 1990s. But the technology dates back to World War II, to identify friendly planes. And they

are also used in modern aviation.
Before the chip keys, car makers and locksmiths only had to make sure the keys are cut to fit your locks and ignition. With transponder keys, not only does it have to fit, the keys have to be programmed to respond correctly to disarm the car’s immobilizer system in order start it.
How does it work?
The head of the car key has a transponder chip that emits low-level signal that will be detected by a receiver around the ignition cylinder. Once you turn the key, coded signals will be exchanged and the computer authenticates the response if it is the car’s real key. This significantly reduced the incidence of stealing cars by hot-wiring or using duplicate keys, as the car will not start if it doesn’t receive the correct response from the correct auto transponder key.
Programming the transponder key.
Without the proper programming, a transponder key will not be able start your car. The key will still be able to open your car door and trunks though.
