Volkswagen Group continues its rapid descend this week and this is just the beginning. Last week, it was revealed by the Environmental Protection Agency that Volkswagen Group was deliberately violating the Clean Air Act on their TDI diesel models.

The company admitted that 11 million of their cars have been fitted with the software that cheats emissions tests. Most of them are said to be on the roads of the United Kingdom.

Volkswagen is the parent company to many great brands like Audi AG, Bentley Motors, and Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S.

The situation that Volkswagen Group is going through is currently affecting the integrity and consumer trust of all their sister companies. Audi and Skoda recently came forward and revealed that a total of 3.3 million cars were fitted with the software that allowed Volkswagen Group to cheat US emissions tests.

Audi said their vehicle count is 2.1 million and Skoda totaled 1.2 million.

Czech-based Skoda has not, thus far, revealed what models have been affected but an Audi spokesman stated the following models are:

A1, A3, A4, A5,
A6, TT, Q3, Q5

With a high count of cars affected, Volkswagen Group is facing up to 18 billion in fines along with a pending investigation. Former Volkswagen Group CEO Martin Winterkorn is currently being investigated by German authorities over allegations of fraud in the sale of cars with manipulated emissions data.

German authorities have also demanded that Volkswagen Group set out a timeline by October 7th on how they will uphold national emissions standards.

I am huge fan of the 2016 Audi TT quattro. The math I was impressed with was that it can give me 220 horsepower with a 2L, 4-cylinder diesel engine. What I wasn’t impressed with were the tactics they used to get it on the road.
