Car Key Replacement Is Just a Call Away in the Twin Cities Area

If you need your car keys replaced, it typically means you have lost your keys, or they were stolen. Either means you have been having a bad day. Sorry to hear that.

However, there is some relatively good news. Getting new keys cut will not be as expensive nor as big of a hassle as you may suspect.

Thankfully, the Minneapolis St Paul area is home to one of the best automotive locksmith services in the nation. The24-7 Key Guys, who are headquartered in Minneapolis have a small fleet of vans that serve the entire Twin City Metro area.

That’s good news because it means they can usually get to you fast, and that means you will not need to pay for a tow.  And since they will come to you, they can meet you at your work place, your home or wherever you find yourself stranded.

They offer 24/7 key replacement service 365 days a week.

Even more good news, they are professionals and honorable people. The unfortunate fact is that the Twin Cities have been plagued from time to time by unscrupulous operators advertising low fees on Google and elsewhere only to charge exorbitant fees on site.  Not so with The Key Guys.

In fact you will find that the prices they charge are less than what you would pay at your dealer.

There is a reason for that.  Many Twin City Car dealers call on the Key Guys to handle their car key replacement needs and then charge customers a markup.

Dealers cannot afford to keep a trained locksmith and the expensive coding and key cutting machines needed for today’s high tech keys.  Thus they call the pros at The Key Guys.

Below is a map that shows the range of The Keys Guys Service Area.

So the next time you need Replacement Car Keys, in the Twin City Metro area, be sure to call The Key Guys at 612-333-7677.

By the way, the best time to get replacement car keys is before you need them.  These days many people try to get by with a single set of keys due to the cost.  It’s a smarter idea to have a spare set made before you need them.

The Key Guys have been making videos for some time now. Many have been reworked versions of other video with a new theme or geography.

We have been trying to get the word out about our above average skill and service.

We are well known among the areas car dealers, service stations and rental car agencies where we do most of our business. But we also do service for the general public as well.

And we save them money in two ways. First, we come to them, so they do not need to tow their car to the dealer,  We can meet them at home, at work and or wherever they happen to be stranded if that is the case.

We recently put together a Google Slideshow presentation that allowed us to embed each of our videos within the slides themselves.

Back to the Fifties Weekend, Minnesota State Fairgrounds

Cool Cars, Cool Duds, and Cool Dudes & Dudettes.

examiner.com

Thousands of classic cars, including hot rods, led sleds and cruisers, will line the streets of the Minnesota State Fairgrounds June 17th to 19th to celebrate a nostalgic trip down Memory Lane.

It’s all about soaking in the sun and taking in the petrol fumes wafting into the air.

Besides the cool cars, make sure to stop and do some people-watching. An interesting fashion trend has emerged at car shows the last few years. Out are the ‘50s jeans and white tees with slicked hair for the guys. Now tattoos and piercings are the new norm. Ladies are sporting retro chic styling and shunning the poodle skirts and pin-curls. For ladies, the “in” thing is a Rosie-the-Riveter bandana over their dyed hair, along with a Bettie Page-type outfit.

The Key Guys Are Your Best Choice for Car Key Replacement Services in Minneapolis St Paul Region

But here are some articles about other Car Key Replacement Services elsewhere in the world.

In fact our first post is from England.

Most of us have done this at some time or other – lose or damage our car keys.

Mind you, we’re not alone. In fact, 26% of drivers manage to lose their car keys at some point! Of course, as anyone having done this will be painfully aware, losing or damaging your car keys can not only be very inconvenient. It can be extremely expensive. In one recent case, a driver from Wrexham faced a hefty bill of £3,000 for a new car key!

So just why are car keys so expensive these days? Well, there’s a lot more to modern car key than simply a bit of metal that resembles the shape of a key. There’s all the microelectronics inside the key fob with the incredibly complicated coding to ensure that your vehicle is secure, or as secure as it can be. And that just for starters. So, losing your car keys can be a really stressful experience. Via nottinghampost.com

Now the fellow from Wrexham is certainly an exception, he must have had a gold plated key. 🙂 but the awful truth is that car keys can be quite pricey these days, and there are some unscrupulous folks out there ripping people off as well.

As professionals we warn people to be careful of scam artists that unfortunately plague our industry. Some sites we have seen even suggest that Ford owners seek people specifically trained in how to handle Ford keys. We assure you that we can handle virtually any US or Foreign made car and their keys. But here is what this one article pointed out…

Before you settle for a provider of your car key replacement make sure they are well trained in their job with the required certification and qualification. Experience does make all the difference in case you need to retrieve the keys from the car itself.  In case the Ford uses a Tibbe key, there is no requirement of removing the lock, all that needs to be done, is use a decoder tool for reading the lock after unlocking the door and cut the new key there itself. After which a programming machine is plugged into the car which helps in programming the new key so that it is able to communicate effectively and gets your car moving. Via groundreport.com

At the other end of Interstate 35, in Texas you may find a similar automotive locksmith like the Key Guys although we do not know them directly. Their recent press release however seems to suggest that they offer very similar services to ours.

San Antonio Car Key Pros offer a 24/7 automotive locksmith service that is prepared for any situation, and their mobile locksmiths are devoted to your satisfaction. The average response time for arriving at your location is within 30 minutes, regardless of the weather or traffic conditions. Emergency automotive locksmith car key replacement is always done with laser cut precision that is sure to please. Their customers aren’t limited to the traditionally offered car key services either. San Antonio Car Key Pros also repair and replace transponder keys, FOB keys, and car ignition switches on all makes and models of vehicle.  Via webwire.com

We like creating videos and we have discovered that many of out cohorts in other cities do as well. Here is an example from the Bronx, NY

Now we really do not specialize in helping people who lock their keys in their car. We will cut you new keys, make you spares, program your keys etc. Even fix car door locks and ignitions that have keys sticking in them. When we get calls to help people who lock themselves in, we help when we can or more likely make a referral to quality specialist who do this day in and day out like our friend Fast Eddy of Fast Eddys Keys Express who serves the Minneapolis area.  That said, we like the technique this next guy has for solving the problem and recommend that you learn how to do the same…

If only it were so easy.  Hope you enjoyed this post. A bit out of our ordinary. Maybe we will followup with more.  In the meanwhile, should you need car key replacement services call The Key Guys in Minneapolis or St Paul area at 612-333-7677

Will you be trading in your car keys for a new Tesla Model 3?

autonews.com

It appears that Tesla is not quite ready with its final designs for the new Model 3 despite already having over 400,000 deposits. But you have to hand it to Elon Musk, he has certainly turned up the excitement for his new vehicle.

The auto industry’s disruptor-in-chief has done it again. With the public reveal of his BMW 3 Series-fighting Tesla Model 3 in April, Elon Musk did something the auto industry has failed to do in more than half a century: get people truly excited about a new car. So excited, in fact, that about 400,000 of them have reportedly plunked down a $1,000 deposit for a vehicle that’s said to be still more than a year away from the showroom.

The last time the auto industry saw anything like this, the Beatles were on top of the Billboard charts, Lyndon Johnson was in the White House, and the tragedy of Vietnam had yet to sear America’s psyche. The car that did it was, of course, Ford’s original Mustang. See more…

motortrend.com

TeslaTesla stunned the world in March when it introduced its Model 3 electric car, the company’s first affordable vehicle that will go into production later next year. Tesla’s designers and engineers clearly put a lot of thought into how the car looks and operates. It’s the best looking affordable electric car we’ve seen yet — hopefully the first of many. Via techinsider.io

And while the Mustang was America’s car, it appears that Tesla has a larger image and marketplace.

As it turns out, many of those reservations may have come from a country that now represents one of the largest markets for electric cars.

“The potential is huge,” Tesla global vice president Robin Ren said recently, without disclosing the exact number of Chinese reservations.

In China, the Model 3 will sell for close to the $35,000 base price of U.S. versions, and Chinese customers must put down a deposit of 8,000 yuan (just under $1,300).read more at greencarreports.com

Now while the Tesla may have caught your attention as well. it will be a few years before you will get yours delivered. In the meanwhile take care of your existing car. And should you ever need new car keys made  be sure to call on The Key Guys. We are Minneapolis St Paul areas #1 mobile automotive locksmith.

Beware Cheap Car Keys Scams Online

We run into this all the time. People are trying to save a buck by buying car keys online. We understand that, but we are often called upon to make these car keys work, and too often, they won’t. In some cases, they can even do severe damage to your car costing in the thousands of dollars.

When we say this, people sometimes think we are just trying to make a buck off people as well. That hurts, as we are constantly doing our best to offer quality and honest service to our customers. But not everyone knows that.  So it helps to have one of the premier Minneapolis locksmiths take the time and say so on YouTube.

The guy’s name is Edward Mann, but we refer to him as Fast Eddy.  He can open locked doors faster than anyone I know.

For full disclosure, he often calls on us to handle his Car Key calls as he is in high demand.

Everything Eddy says above is true. We will sometimes refuse to work on some of these for fear they will destroy the customer’s electronics. As as that would cost them thousands, we just won’t take the risk.

If you need a spare set of car keys, call us. We will make sure you get a proper key that will do the job right. We are The Key Guys.  We serve the entire Minneapolis St Paul Metro area, and we will come to you to get the job done when and where it is convenient for you.  612-333-3773

We created a new version of our video and targeted it to three south of the river communities we serve with our mobile vans: Burnsville, Apple Valley and Lakeville.

These communities have grown dramatically over the past two decades and we find ourselves there on a regular basis serving the many auto dealerships in the area as well as area service stations and body shops not to mention the general public.

In this version of the video we start out with a static slide featuring Duplicate Keys. We really do recommend that people get duplicate keys made, although a lot of our business is from those who for what ever reason seem to have lost their only key.

And yes, car keys do cost more these days, but having duplicates is just good common sense and in reality cheap insurance.

If you need a duplicate car key cut, give us a call. We can schedule a time that is convenient for you, at work or at your home or where ever and get the job done quickly and inexpensively.

What are switchblade keys and transponder keys?

Does the music of Mac the Knife come to mind when you hear the term “Switchblade” Keys? Do you wonder what people mean when they refer to Transponder keys?

The Car Key has evolved over the years. No longer just a metal blank with jagged teeth, the car key has grown up and taken on additional responsibilities with its age.

We found a post by a fellow locksmith that succinctly describes these two types of keys we thought we would share today.

You have probably heard of car keys referred to as switchblade keys and transponder keys recently, but weren’t 100% sure what they actually are.

switchblade car key

                 A Switchblade Car Key

A switchblade key is basically no different than any other car key around. The only difference is its appearance. The switchblade key is designed to fold away inside the fob when it is not being used. To release the key from the fob you simply push a button on the side of your fob that triggers the keys release. Switchblade keys have become very popular recently because of their smart compact look.

Transponder keys (also known as chip keys) are a little more complex; originally designed to combat car theft in the United Kingdom, transponder keys have a transponder chip embedded inside the key. This chip sends a coded signal to the car’s inbuilt computer when the ignition is started. If the code is incorrect then car will not start. This technology has helped bring the world’s auto theft percentage right down.

Because switchblade keys are only developed for new car models they are usually equipped with a programmed transponder chip.

If you have lost your transponder key or switchblade key and wish to get it replaced you will have to get the proper authorization required as these keys often come with a “do not copy” order printed on them.

The Key Guys are one of the few area locksmiths with the proper authorization to duplicate this type of key.  We have earned to confidence of the major car makers, and have the proper tools, certification and training to do the job correctly. We perform this task for many area car dealers and service stations as well as the general public.

Calling us first can save you money as we can come to you with one of our fully equipped mobile vans. That saves you the added towing cost, plus by dealing direct we can save you the dealer mark up.
