What Is The Value of a Spare Car Key?

When my friend Carl, bought his new used car, he received just one set of keys. “All we have,” the dealer told him.  When he went to get a price on getting a spare made, the cost surprised him. Car keys cost a lot more these days that they once did. So he decided to go without. Time went on, and while always intending to get around to getting a copy made, he never did.

His wife Nancy had her own car, and on the few occasions when her car was in the shop, Earl was able to let Nancy have his keys. Luckily, the lack of having spare car keys never matter, until one day when it did.

Now the story for Carl and Nancy was unique to them.  But in our many years of specializing in Car Keys we have run into hundreds of Carl and Nancy’s.
